Eight years ago, at our first ultrasound, Robb (the founder of Old Daddin’) and I (Misten) were there for the moment that started it all. I was 36 and pregnant with our first. Then the tech dropped a label I wasn’t ready for:
“Advanced maternal age.”
I blinked and laughed like… excuse me?
I said, “So if I’m 36 and ‘advanced,’ what does that make me?”
The tech smiled: “Well… technically, you’re an old mom.”
"We also call you Geriatric Pregnancy."
I laughed—and Old Mommin’ was born.
If women are labeled “advanced maternal age” at 35+, then moms are Old Moms at around 35+. Own it.
